Description
Mid-century George Nakashima Dining Set and 6 Chairs.
This early George Nakashima Dining set was custom ordered from the Nakashima Studio in 1963 and has been in the original owner’s possession for almost 60 years. It was well cared for and is ready for another half of a century of use.
The table consists of a book-matched, two-board, solid walnut, conservative free form top with three beautiful solid Brazilian rosewood butterflies in the center showcased by the lighter striations of the sap grain. This table also includes a pair of rarely seen freeform extensions that allows it to comfortably accommodate up to 10 chairs. The set includes six gorgeous conoid dining chairs from the same purchase order. All of the pieces are marked with the client’s last name and will be accompanied by a copy of the original bill of sale from the Nakashima studio.
We also have a corresponding coffee table from the same collection available in a separate listing.
The table measures 40″W x 71″L x 28.5″H with two 16.5″ Extensions.
Due to the studio lighting, the images appear a bit redder than the items are.
circa 1963
A craftsman from the Nakashima Studio was sent out to clean polish and recondition the top. It is in very good condition.
