Description

This is a rare and complete George Nakashima Origins Collection dining room table. This piece is model #203 and includes the two matching extensions. The table retains the original Widdicomb label in the center and one of the leaves is branded with George Nakashima’s Signature. They are all finished in Nakashima’s proprietary SUNDRA finish. Nakashima personally selected particularly beautiful woods including East Indian Laurel, Carpathian Elm, Black Walnut and Rosewood. For the Laurel, he developed a unique finish called ‘Sundra’ meaning ‘thing of beauty’. The Sundra stamp found on many pieces has led to the line being referred to (erroneously) as the Sundra collection. The table boasts an extraordinary grain pattern and the iconic butterfly joinery in the corners. This table was acquired from the original owners and was used as shown for over 60 years. The set was recently refinished to the highest possible standard and is ready for another half a century of enjoyment. You will likely not find a cleaner Nakashima Origins dining table available anywhere on the planet.

The table is dated 7/59 on the underside.
Table: 107.75″L x 41.75″D x 28.5″H with leaves. 71.75″L without leaves Leaves: 41.75″ x 18″
