Large scale Paavo Tynell Fantasia snowflake chandelier model no. 9014 for Taito Oy comprised of 80 of Tynell’s most intricately crafted snowflakes in unique variations.
This breathtaking mid-century modern chandelier casts a warm glow of light from the intricately perforated brass bowl upwardly illuminating the delicate hand-cut brass snowflakes and casting long shadows on the ceiling which gently move with the flow of the natural circulation of air in the room. The lighting effects of this lamp create a uniquely soothing and dramatic ambient landscape on the ceiling of any room.
This is one of the rare early examples created by Tynell’s own company Taito Oy when he was the head designer and chief executive officer before they merged with Idman in 1954. The entire lamp is crafted from solid brass and retains the original golden patina. All of the manufacturer’s identifying marks are impressed into the metal.
The down-rod is a standard fitting that can easily be replaced to suit the specific needs of your space. Created, circa 1950.
